Narnia and other Disney niceties
Dec. 11th, 2005 10:09 pmYesterday, we went to see Narnia.
Pros:
The animal characters are incredibly beautiful. This was the first movie I saw in which they didn't seem to be moving all jerky and wrong. They were real. Also, the facial expressions on those characters were wonderful. This must have been was what Disney wanted to do in his movies with trained animals all along. I especially liked the pair of beavers and the wolves.
And I am so glad that we have a cinema in Berlin that only shows original language versions. There is no way to properly translate some things.
The soundtrack was great, too.
Cons:
I found the story a bit cheesy, but my kittycat tells me they simply stuck to the book. Still the movie has those moments where it obviously wants to be impressive, but due to predictability and overdone effects, it simply isn't. For example, when Aslan is about to be reborn, ten seconds before it happens you know exactly where and how he is going to appear again.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable movie. And it makes me very happy that apprently now they have learned to animate animal characters right.
Will you please do 'A gift of fire, a gift of blood' next?
On a side note, I have just found out that Disney has released a Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers DVD in the U.S. It has the first 27 episodes. Now, if anyone is still looking for a present for me ... they're available at amazon.com. I used to have all CDRR episodes on video, but now the tapes are probably broken, and besides I don't have a VHS VCR any more.
