A wonderfully long weekend
Mar. 7th, 2005 08:14 pmWith all the work I still have to do for my thesis, I decided last week that I needed some extra time. So I took Friday and today off, which extended my weekend to four days.
On Thursday evening I took the train to Frankfurt and attended a wine tasting with a couple of co-workers. I'll say this much: New Zealand wines won't become my favourites any time soon. When I noticed how late it had become, the last train back was gone, so I called up my brother and arranged to sleep there. Yay for family in emergencies.
It turned out my brother was planning to visit my sister for a family breakfast on Friday morning, so I invited myself. My little nephew got a little scared when I walked up to him in my suit, but it was still good to meet them all.
After an uneventful trip back, I opened the laptop and spent my time working on the thesis.
Let noone say outsourcing doesn't work. I got the code back, it only took a few hours to merge it with my own changes and get it to work. Of course, I had my contractor at the other end of a chat window and we kept sending patches back and forth.
I wish I had a few more days like the last few. I'm in a roll now, can't imagine going to work tomorrow morning...
